Student Accommodation

Background:

The present building was erected in the late 1920's as the Carlton Hotel. It was (and still is) the pre-eminent art deco structure in Geelong. The Carlton Hotel soon became the centre for important social activities in Geelong and during its lifetime has played host to many famous people (both from within Australia and from overseas). Our most famous American guest was the actress Ava Gardner who stayed here briefly during the making of the film, 'On the Beach'.

In the mid 1990's the Carlton Hotel became Carlton Central. In recent years there has been major refurbishment of the accommodation section of the building. We offer rooms and facilities that are freshly painted and recarpeted; the rooms are well appointed and ideal for tertiary students.

Location:

Carlton Central Accommodation is located in the heart of Geelong within easy walking distance of the city's major attractions and services. It is within a minute's walk of the city's shopping malls; it is close to cinemas, theatres, cafes, restaurants, churches, the railway station - indeed any features of the major city.

Carlton Central Accommodation has one complete floor of accommodation for students.

The accommodation section of the building is completely separate from other parts of the building. It has its own entrance which is accessible only to those (students) with keys.
