This year, the tournament will celebrate its 120th anniversary, and in true AO fashion, it’s gearing up to be bigger and better than ever.

Craig Tiley, the Australian Open Tournament Director, highlighted the exciting additions for 2025. "Following a record-breaking 2024, we’re aiming for an even bigger Australian Open celebration, launching the tennis season globally with more tennis, more entertainment, and a host of fresh initiatives to bring fans closer to the action than ever before," he said.

Australian Open 2025 will run from 6 to 26 January at Melbourne Park's Rod Laver Arena. This year’s tournament promises three thrilling weeks of world-class tennis, paired with an exciting lineup of music, entertainment, and fan experiences that will captivate audiences of all ages.

Special Events and Celebrations at Australian Open 2025

This year, the Australian Open 2025will debut Evonne Goolagong Cawley Day, honouring the tennis legend, alongside returning favourites like All Abilities Day, Hot Shots Tennis Day, Women & Girls Day, and Pride Day. Celebrations for Evonne Goolagong Cawley and John Newcombe, both marking 50 years since their 1975 AO victories, will add a nostalgic touch to the event. Newcombe will be featured on the coin toss for all Summer of Tennis matches, a tradition Goolagong Cawley enjoyed in 2024.

With the AO’s broadcast reach growing, the 2024 event saw an impressive 558 million unique viewers worldwide, up 57% from 2023. Social media engagement was also record-breaking, with 3.8 billion impressions, reflecting the incredible global appetite for AO content. Fans can look forward to an enhanced viewing experience in 2025, whether they’re attending in person or tuning in from around the world.

Beyond the world-class tennis, the Australian Open 2025 is introducing a range of immersive experiences to bring fans closer to the action. Tiley elaborated, "This year, we’re offering more ways for fans to engage, with activities across the site that complement the on-court drama and expand our reach to a new generation of tennis lovers."

Here are some key features:

  • TOPCOURT: The brand-new TOPCOURT precinct, located at Middle Terrace in Birrarung Marr, promises a blend of tennis, culture, digital media, and gaming. This next-gen space will feature live DJs, a public Padel Court, retail pop-ups, and gaming zones, creating the ultimate spot to hang out, relax, and take in the AO atmosphere.
  • Expanded Opening Week: Kicking off on Monday, 6 January, Opening Week includes AO Qualifying, open practice sessions in Rod Laver Arena, four exhibition matches featuring top players, and Kids Tennis Day on 11 January. The family-friendly day will offer tennis games, competitions, and a wide variety of food and drink options. The fan-favorite Rod Laver Arena Spectacular is also set to return, enhancing the excitement of the first weekend.
  • Courtside Bar: Back by popular demand, the two-storey Courtside Bar will offer increased capacity and improved tennis viewing, complete with an intimate rooftop bar and a mouthwatering menu, making it one of the top spots to watch the matches while enjoying a drink.
  • AO Live: Music lovers can rejoice, as AO Live will bring big-name acts like Benson Boone, Kaytranada, Kesha, and Armand Van Helden to perform during the finals. With more music scheduled throughout the event, fans can expect a festival-like atmosphere, adding an exciting new layer to the AO experience.
